Michael Byrne manufacturing builds water level indicator kits and steerable heads that can aide the contractor in maintaining grade throughout a bore.
A water level head can be installed on the lead casing to indicate the grade of the casing throughout the boring project. It may be used in conjunction with a steerable casing in order to make adjustments at the cutting face as the grade changes.
Below is a diagram of the water level kit set up and a picture of the indicator box used at the pit.

A steerable head uses a mechanical knuckle that is controlled/adjusted from the pit. This will tilt the lead casing and allows the contractor to make adjustments to grade at the cutting face. Below is a diagram of the steering knuckle installed on the lead casing.
